We accept nominations during the “open” period approx. 3 -4 weeks before each meeting
Please note that only Active Members of 100+ Women Who Care NOTL are able to submit nominations.
To be eligible, a charity must:
- Be a registered Canadian charity with a valid Charitable Registration Number.
- Serve or directly benefit the Niagara EAST Region, including Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Thorold, Welland, Port Colborne, and Fort Erie.
- Demonstrate a clear local impact. National or international charities are not eligible at this time.
- Apply 100% of the donation directly to the need presented.
- Agree not to add members to any marketing, fundraising, or email lists.
- Be inclusive and not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
How it Works
- Every eligible nomination is entered into the draw. Each charity receives only one entry, regardless of the number of nominations submitted.
- Two weeks prior to each quarterly meeting, three charities are randomly selected to present.
- At the meeting, members hear from the three presenting organizations and vote to determine which charity will receive that quarter’s collective donation.
- Charities that have presented at a previous meeting but did not receive funding are ineligible to present again for one year.
- Charities that have received funding from 100+ Women Who Care NOTL, or a donation of $10,000 or more from any other 100+ Women Who Care chapter, are ineligible to present again for three years.
- Charities must be prepared to issue individual tax receipts within 30 days of the meeting and provide a brief follow-up update at a later meeting outlining how the funds were used.
- Charities must agree to maintain complete confidentiality throughout the selection process. Presenting charities are not announced until the evening of the meeting; even the nominating member is not notified in advance.
- The nomination process resets each quarter.
- Members are encouraged to research local charities using resources such as CanadaHelps or Google. Even if a charity is not selected, this research may inspire members to volunteer or donate independently.
